About Us

What is the Emergency Medicine Journal Club Podcast?

The Emergency Medicine Journal Club Podcast (EMJC Cast) is a podcast developed by Arman Hussain and Kyle Henn to help give senior medical students exposure to the field of Emergency Medicine (EM) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of respect for senior medical students’ health and safety, in-person EM away rotations were widely cancelled, leaving many EM bound students with only their home institution’s EM rotation if any at all. Students were also briefly removed from their clinical responsibilities, and during this time, the EMJC Cast crew have worked on creating educational and entertaining content.

DISCLAIMER: The views/opinions expressed in this podcast are that of the hosts/guests and do not reflect their respective institutions. This is NOT a medical advice podcast, if you are having a medical emergency you should call 911 and get help. This is an educational podcast, and as such, sometimes we get things wrong – if you notice this, please email us at emjccast@gmail.com.

FOAM Resources We Love

EM Clerkship – By Dr. Zack Olson, a wonderful resource for medical students on their EM rotations. Here’s the description right form the podcast: “The purpose of this podcast is to help medical students crush their emergency medicine clerkship and get top 1/3 on their SLOE. The content is organized in an approach to format and covers different chief complaints, critical diagnoses, and skills important for your clerkship.”

JournalFeed – A phenomenal almost DAILY feed of summarized journal articles. Imagine that – EVERY DAY you get a great article summarized delivered right to you.

The Skeptics Guide to Emergency Medicine (SGEM) – A phenomenal podcast where Dr. Ken Milne takes a deep dive into EM articles, and really gets nitty-gritty about the evidence.
